Otaki Shrine
Today, I had made up my mind to visit Otaki Shrine in the morning. The spring was selected as one of the best 100 springs in Japan, so I thought I should definitely check it out.In the 10th year of Emperor Sujin's reign, Otaki Shrine was founded by Emperor TakenuKawawakenomiko, who visited the area and praised the spring water as "the source of agriculture, the life of the people, and the foundation of Choukoku(肇国)."During the period of Shinto-Buddhist syncretism, the shrine was renamed as Taki Gongen or Otaki Gongen, but after the separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the Meiji period (1868-1912) and the abolition of Buddhism, the name was changed to Otaki-sha and then to Otaki Shrine, it was written on the website of the Yamanashi Prefectural Shrine Office.Otaki Spring is one of the "Yatsugatake Minamuroku Highland Springs" selected as one of the 100 best springs by the Ministry of the Environment, along with Sanbuichi Spring and Metori Spring. The water volume is 22,000 tons per day, and the water temperature remains between 12 and 13 degrees Celsius even in mid summer. The abundant spring water is used for cultivating rainbow trout and landlocked salmon, and a fishing pond has been set up in the Otaki Spring Park, where the voices of parents and children echoed.
